Nova Ray® Submersible Systems Makes Homeland Security Splash
By Marc Geriene (September 17, 2002)

Kirkland, WA: Nova Ray Submersible Systems (Nova Ray) is answering the call for "America's best ideas today to protect our citizens tomorrow." The Seattle area firm is showcasing its product's homeland security applications at the first-ever Homeland Security Technology Expo and Conference in Washington, DC, Sept. 18-19, 2002.

Nova Ray is the licensed manufacturer of the innovatively shaped and patent designed, Nova Ray®, a submersible remotely operated vehicle (ROV). The ROV responds to such security needs as:

- Increased Security for ships, ports, marinas, etc.
- Increased Emphasis on emergency response
- Increased Awareness of threats from "NBC" terrorism (Nuclear, Biological & Chemical)
- Ships' Hull Surveys

"We are excited about launching the Nova Ray® at such an important event, and introducing our product for the protection of our waterways," said Marc Geriene, Managing Director Nova Ray.

The conference, hosted by the U.S. Department of Commerce, in association with the Office of Homeland Security provides opportunities for federal procurement officers, law enforcement officials, Congressional staff and others to learn more about the products currently being developed to strengthen national defense.

"What makes the Nova Ray® stand out in the submersible ROV industry," Marc Geriene said, "is its quick response time, ease of use, and most importantly; the ability to tow or operate in strong currents. Our technology and intellectual property will revolutionize the ROV industry."

He explained that seven years of research and development and two decades of experience are behind the Nova Ray® design and applications. A worldwide market is created from its portability, usability, economics and universal design.

"We have solved some very limiting factors for ROVs. As a result, we have expanded its applications that include such areas as security," Geriene said. Other applications include pipeline inspections, cable inspections, dam and reservoir inspections and water rescue operations.
